The World Thai Boxing Association
The World Thai Boxing Association or WTBA is the oldest and largest Muay Thai organization in the world. This organization was founded in 1968 by Ajarn Surachai or also known as “Chai”. Ajarn is a Thai language term which translates as “teacher” or “master instructor”.
Ajarn Chai came to the United States with a vision to spread Muay Thai throughout the world. The mission has expanded since it’s inception in 1968. Originally one man’s quest to spread Thai Boxing to the United States, it is now this same man’s vision to help others who have a passion for Muay Thai to continue his legacy of spreading the martial arts of Thailand across the planet. He is the first-ever Thai boxing instructor to teach Americans this art and he has worked tirelessly for 40 plus years to that end. We are indeed grateful to Ajarn Chai for his gift of the knowledge of Muay Thai.
The WTBA has now expanded to establish affiliate organizations in countries around the world. Ajarn Chai continues to promote Muay Thai through his selected personal seminar schedule, hand picked seminar team and Instructor Development Camps in the United States of America, United Kingdom, and Australia.
